The 62:10 Project is empowering ideas, training leaders and creating hope through establishing small businesses in underrepresented Middle Eastern communities.
"Go through, go through the gates; prepare the way for the people;
build up, build up the highway; clear it of stones;
lift up a signal over the peoples."
Isaiah 62:10
This ancient prophetic declaration is the inspiration for the 62:10 Project. Our mission is to access cultural arenas of influence in order to create partnerships that lead to successful businesses and remove the obstacles facing minorities and underrepresented communities in the Middle East.
The work began in Bethlehem in 2013 with Christian Palestinians. Over the last half-century, the Christian population in Bethlehem has dwindled from a majority of more than 80% to a struggling minority of less than 15%. The religious and political climate has produced a difficult economic situation and threatens the sustainability of this religious minority community. The 62:10 Project, in cooperation with local churches, nonprofits, and business leaders, is working to provide employment and actualize opportunity through establishing small businesses and creating business-to-business relationships.
62:10 works with local partners to identify leaders, develop their business models, provide leadership training, and work to secure funding when needed. 62:10's vision is to lower unemployment in the Christian minority population to less than 10% and create a network of leaders to serve as employers and mentors. The long term goal is to see job creation expand beyond the Christian community. 62:10 has an emphasis on empowering and promoting female leaders. The first leadership conference held in Bethlehem featured a majority of female presenters and the first job-creation project employed women.
Religious and political turmoil in the Middle East has left ethnic and religious minorities struggling to survive and many are virtually on the brink of disappearing. Your support of the 62:10 Project helps secure the future of minority and underrepresented communities in the Middle East.
