Impacto Cuba is a high-faith mission to establish the Kingdom of God, its King, people and culture, as the dominant influence in Cuban society. God began this mission long before its initial leaders were formally called to Cuba. Pastor Rafael Gutierrez, a Dominican married to a Cuban-American, began serving the Lord in Cuba in 2013 by teaching pastors the importance of discipleship. Rafael Estrada emigrated from Cuba to the USA in 1994, meeting Jesus on his treacherous journey. Steve Samaniego, a Cuban-American whose father was born in Cuba, knew growing up that he would serve God in Cuba one day.
God brought the three of us together, established us as brothers in Jesus and called us to co-found Impacto Cuba. We went to Cuba together for the first time in Nov 2014, to a place prepared beforehand by the Lord through Pastor Rafael. Alamar, a city near La Habana, originally designed and built in the 60s to be a communist utopia, apart from God. Not surprisingly, this city of over 250,000 people is one of the most dangerous areas of Cuba today. God quickly used Impacto Cuba as a platform to unify and energize the local churches (over 35 of them from 11 different denominations) to boldly reveal the Light and Love of Jesus to the community of Alamar through sports and community programs. In July 2015, over 1000 people attended the inaugural Impacto Cuba event. To date, several thousands of people, the community and “the church of Alamar” have been impacted by the Love of the King and His Kingdom. Word of this wonderful move of God quickly spread to other parts of Cuba. Many pastors traveled from distant towns to see God’s work in Alamar. Even the enemy of God heard, and pounced. An attack on a few of the missionaries, orchestrated by the forces of darkness, seriously injured one of the missionaries, nearly killing him. But God used this event to rapidly spread word throughout Cuba about the flame He lit in Alamar and making way for this flame to quickly spread throughout the country.
In 2017, Impacto Cuba is operating in three cities simultaneously while the word is spreading and preparation for further expansion is underway. God is bringing missionaries from all over the world (USA, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Honduras, Switzerland, etc.) to work with our Cuban brothers and sisters in the Lord, to immerse all of Cuba in the Light and Love of Jesus. We believe God is expanding Impacto Cuba to all parts of the island, through discipleship and community transformational activities, to bless the nation and people of Cuba.
The mission of the Impacto Cuba movement is to disciple, raise up and strengthen Kingdom leaders in as many communities as possible, in preparation for the anticipated transition of government within the next seven years. Our vision is to establish the Kingdom of God as the dominant cultural influence in all aspects of Cuban society, so that God is Glorified, the nation of Cuba is blessed, and the world is enlightened.
